Well, Luke Cooper has already given you a glimpse at the Cover thread, with "Hellhound". But we've also a piece called "Johnny Nightshift" by Ed Norden, whose poem/strip "I Bleed Light" featured in Issue #1. I'm a fan of his style. Ed has also illustrated for us stories by Stan Nicholls and CS MacCath (sorry for spelling that with an "r", CS). Our third strip is still a mystery. I was hoping that Luke Hinchley and Mike Webster would be giving us some more of their dark tales but they are busy on other work, so it's probably going to be Issue #7 before their work graces the pages of Murky Depths again. It may well be a story by Sylvanus Moxley, but the studio working on the art haven't been particularly speedy!

Actually the image I posted was from 'The Dark Gospel Conclusion', but I will chuck a 'Hellhound' preview picture onto the message board for #6 a little nearer the release date.

I thought I'd be brave, and take the unusual step for me of sharing a couple of pencil and watercolour scans, taken from my eight page 'Johnny Nightshift' illustrated poem piece, as they were before becoming the digital montages you'll see them as in printed form (it's at the printers at time of writing, so I believe). Hope some of this is of interest:

And one about mid-way through...

Cool pics, Ed. Very cool. I'm always interested to see the artistic process. My friend Paul Stanczykowski did a couple of covers for some Brian Lumley novels a while back and I was privileged to see his inital sketches long before they ended up as the finished versions. Looking forward to seeing your final versions in issue 5.

Thank you very much Lee. Glad you got something out of that; as I said, I tend to be tad guarded when it comes to publicly exposing works in progress, but in this case I'm feeling confident enough in the work as a whole to make an exception. I very much hope you enjoy the complete piece!
