Think Constantine if directed by John Woo; wings and guns. |

Excellent. I love it already! |

Cover's finished. I'm quite pleased with it. My Halo Slipping character looks lovely in colour, bless her. |

Thanks Lee. Welcome to the family. In regard to your Blackadder quote, my own favourite would have to be; "I'd rather be sat on a stepladder in the middle of No-Man's Land, smoking endless cigarettes through a luminous balaclava." Or something like that. That kind of breathless sarcasm requires real commitment. --Last edited by luke on 2008-04-04 08:05:04 -- |

I'm really looking forward to the cover. In my comments on issue 1, I mentioned your work's similarity to that of the fantastic Jae Lee. I was just wondering, is he an influence. I particularly like his illustrations to a recent edition of 'Dracula'. And did I mention I'm really looking forward to the cover? |

Jae Lee? I remember his earlier work, which reminded me more of Simon Bisley. I would probably list Tim Bradstreet and Marcelo Frusin as my main artistic influences. I do occasionally steal the odd Steve Dillon pose too. Still, being compared to a great artist like Jae Lee is a great compliment so thank you very much. I hope the cover lives up to people's expectations. The reception that Richard Calder's cover received has made me nervous. --Last edited by luke on 2008-04-28 17:11:14 -- |

I'm a big fan of Tim Bradstreet and Marcello Frusin's work on Vertigo's 'Loveless' is superb. The real star of that title, though, is Danijel Zezelj. His work is amazing: dark, brooding, evocative, he does so much with so little. I'd love to see him assigned to 'Hellblazer'. And don't worry, I don't think there's much danger of you "doing a Calder" (there's a phrase that might catch on: a bit like "jumping the shark"). |

Yes, I felt a little mean about my comments at Mr Calder's expense: I think he's come in for enough stick. Unfortunately, I didn't realise I'd already posted them. Sorry, Richard. Broad shoulders and all that! |

I like Loveless too. I agree that Danijel Zezelj's art works really well. His stuff is similar to Jorge Zaffino's work on Punisher: Assassin's Guild and Punisher: Kingdom Gone. I think the cover looks pretty good. I will be interested to see people's opinions when it appears on issue 5. Please let me know what you think on that glorious day. |

In reference to Jae Lee, his work went through a drastic transformation around 10 or so years ago; it's unrecognisable from his earliest works. He's an incredible illustrator - one of my favourites in comics. The artists mentioned on this thread are all cut from the same cloth, I'm expecting that Luke's cover will be evocative in spirit to their good works. |

Thanks for clarifying, Ed. |

Hello everyone. I have finished the artwork for the fourth and final part of The Dark Gospel, the first story arc in the ongoing A Glimpse of Hell series, and I think I can safely promise you an explosive finale. This is the final showdown between Goulding, Halo and Satan himself. There's going to be gunplay, swordplay and a pinch of spice. Just to whet your appetite, here's a preview image for you. ![]() Luke |

Oli Smith, of London Underground Comics fame, is illustrating your story, Lee. |

Fantastic, Terry. I can't wait to see it! |

Hope you liked Oli's style, Lee. My favourites are numerous, but I love Nancy Farmer's piece for "So This Is Me", and I know that she is also illustating a story in Issue #6 (already received and amazing!) and Issue #7 (the commission for which she has just accepted - she absolutely loves the story!). Nancy has also agreed to be a regular illustrator for us and we think that's really exciting. |
