Waiting to see who else is going to grace the pages of #4. As I believe Terry pointed out, this magazine just keeps looking better and better.

Terry says I keep pushing the right buttons. It's a true honor to hear that. The pieces I have had accepted (every flippin' thing I sent except for one or two erroneous multi-subs, if memory serves) are all from a collection I've been assembling for years, called Shock Theatre which I will be shopping out later on down the line. The two next in the queue (whoops, did I say that out loud...) "Querencia" and "Great Expectations" were run by Paul S. Jenkins years back in his sadly-defunct This Way Up Paul was the first editor to ever publish me outside the U.S., and one of the most helpful...

Lots to say about 'First Aid' in Issue #4 but I don't want to spill too many beans too quickly. Signing off for the moment.
---ed.

I am very pleased with part 3 of my series, The Dark Gospel. It is the best-looking so far.

Luke, I think your work would make Alan Moore sit up and say howdy. The artwork alone hooked me immediately, and the story had me leaking testosterone and gunpowder by the time I was done. Bravo. Very pleasantly surprised.

Thank you very much for your kind words, Ed. I hope my earlier comment didn't appear too arrogant, but I was on a post-episode high. I look forward to my next glimpse into the vivid imagination of Mr Edward Morris. When you get your collection, Shock Theatre, into print I will certainly be reserving a copy.

Arrogant? No. Simple, declarative, face-value. Few unnecessary words. Much like your work. I could tell you were on that high, but only in between the lines.

O yeah... Shock Theatre will be a long way off, but thank you right back. The closest ST's seen to hard-copy is when the kind folks at Hadesgate put one of the works, "Courtesy Call", in the second Tiny Terrors antho. I'm still waiting for the rights to return to me on those and a few more, but hopefully there will be author copies lying around for people who say nice things about my vivid imagination.

I'm looking forward to seeing what both you guys put out in this issue.  You guys are both constants for Murky Depths, and I dig looking forward to your upcoming work in issues.

Also can't wait to see Mur Lafferty's comic.

Cheers, D.K. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, the positive response I've gotten from this vein of my work has been very inspirational, powerful and appreciated. Not only am I writing new material, but I have a whole trunkful of these type that are being dusted off and barked into muster.

A lot of them are homages to writers who have either sat down and busted their asses to mentor with me firsthand, or just changed my life so much I had to give them their props. Fellow recovering Central Pennsylvanian and Heliotrope ribbon-cutter Jeff VanderMeer is the latest subject of same. I wrote a Central PA elves-and-the-shoemaker routine that, of necessity, had to be titled "The Cage." There's no copyright on titles, but I asked JV's permission anyway. VanderMeer's "The Cage" was one of the top three most disturbing stories I have ever read in my life, and I can't recommend it too highly. (It's in City of Saints and Madmen.)
