Vinnie and I are discussing the cover at the moment. He's sent me a rough of his ideas. It's going to look stunning! The story he has chosen to illustrate for the front cover is "Saint Darwin's Spritual" by D K Thompson. So there's a tit bit of info you can spread around. Of course, you're not going to get a glimpse until it's published.

Holy crap, are you serious?!?!  Wow, that's really flattering and exciting.  I can't wait to see it.

Speaking of illustrations...I don't know how the artists who illustrate for Murky Depths are situated contractually for reselling their originals after those illustrations appear in the magazine, but if they can re-sell, I encourage them to try. I just recently bought an original illustration for one of my pieces that appeared in PanGaia after the artist contacted me about it. I was thrilled to be approached, and he gave me a good price.

Continuing on the topic of cover art (and I forgot this in my post yesterday) is the cover art ever available shortly before the issue is released? I ask because anything I have forthcoming with cover art available goes on the front page of my web site under the "Forthcoming" tag with a brief synopsis right away. In the case that the cover art isn't available, it goes on the front page under "Recently in Print" as soon as I have the art for it. I've been really looking forward to seeing the art work for the issue "Casting Sin" is in, and I want to give the cover some face time on the front page of my site as soon as I can.

All right! I snagged that awesome "Coming Soon" teaser from the Murky Depths front page and put it on the front page of my web site with a link back here. I also put a link to the cart page on my blog with a bit about the magazine.

You all have a great time at the Bristol Expo! My best to you.

Caellaigh, I started showing off covers for upcoming issues but decided it's more fun to build them up and create a little anticipation. Issue #4 is a little different too as we have the simultaeneous podcast of Saint Darwin's Spirituals at Variant Frequencies.

That's sensible, especially because of the close marriage of images and story in the magazine and given the caliber of talent among your artists. And you did say as much in an earlier post; I must have skipped over that bit at first when I commented above.

Best,
C.

I know I should have my face buried deep in issue 4 by now, but I just felt compelled to say, "The front cover is outstanding!"

Now for the stories. First up: Saint Darwin's Spiritual.

GAH!  You have it already?  I wants it!!!!  Alas, as I'm in the U.S., I think I'll have to wait even longer than the average Jack.

And I want to see the cover SO bad!!!!

Hope you dig the story, MJ.  The VF podcast blew my mind *and* made me blush.  Bigtime.
