As at Easter (2007) we've receieved stories from nearly 200 writers. Some of these have sent as many as six stories since we opened up for submissions back in September (2006).

That's because they all know that Murky Depths is going to be the most important sci-fi/horror magazine on the market. I, for one, feel very proud to have my work displayed in your 'zine.

Wow! What a great looking magazine. I'm truly excited

It looks like a Weird Tales/Cemetery Dance/Grave Tales hybrid.

Fantastic. I will submit some scribbles to you.

In translation: I'm going to have to try harder?

I'm the misguided Jo Thomas who keeps sending you email manuscrïpts, btw. Currently deciding what to send you next and starting to dislike the numbers agin me!

This is kind of related to the number of authors / artists who've submitted to Murky Depths...

What's the likelihood of a 'best of' anthology in the future? Especially now that The House Of Murky Depths is publishing novels. I for one think that something along those lines would be a great idea. Maybe a 'best of', once MD hits 10 issues? Or maybe a themed anthology of some sort?

I know a lot of other independent press publishers do this sort of thing. What are everyone's views?

The "Best of" is a great suggestion and one we have been working on. The chances are it will be a hardback and slightly smaller than Murky Depths (by about 10 mm in height). We may well set up a thread to see what readers' twenty favourite stories are to help us decide on its content.

We also plan to publish Luke Cooper's stories as a standalone trade hardback (graphic novel style) and also hopefully Richard Calders "Death and The Maiden" series.

Good idea, Westy. I'll be pushing that at this end.

Hi I just wondered if any of you writers have had trouble with being ignored by the editors of this mag? I've emailed them three times and not recieved a response!

Nice mag, looks good, but the stories leave a lot to be desired. Style over substance!

Zak, I havent had any stories published but I have had an illustration appear in the last issue.

To answer your question, I've had no problems with the editors here. I've found everyone to be extremely helpful regarding my queries and always prompt with their replies. If you check the queries page, there's a section that says if you havent heard about your submission within a set time, you should send a query. And, there's always the possibilty that the staff are on their Christmas hols...

Murky Depths IS a nice looking mag. Thats the point. And although some of the stories may not be to my personal taste, the writers who submitted them clearly went to a lot of trouble over their work. I guess you cant please everyone all of the time;-)!

Zak, Terry has sent you a mail and we'll try to sort out whatever it is you need as soon as we can. Sorry to hear you've had problems.

As for the magazine content, it's only as good as the stories we're sent (and our choice, of course). We reject around 95%. Sorry you don't think they are up to your standard.

We're always interested to know where you have obtained your copies of Murky Depths - I feel a thread coming on. . . .

If Zak could tell us his problem we could do something about it. But he has failed to answer two e-mails and an instant message. If he hasn't received them, then perhaps we're suffering the same problem he had.

Hi, I emailed to query about subbing a story which is just over 5000 words. I didn't get a reply. It's probably something wrong with the email, I'm guessing.
